Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School Students attend HOSA Canada Spring Leadership Conference
On Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28, five Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School students travelled to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to compete in the 10th Annual HOSA Canada Spring Leadership Conference.
After a year of studying a wide range of healthcare topics in preparation for the conference—from Medical Math and Pharmacy Science to Behavioural Health —Notre Dame’s HOSA Chapter had the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and compete in their respective events. When not competing, students attended keynote talks and various workshops, gaining knowledge in specific healthcare areas such as taking vitals, placing a cast on a broken bone, and participating in a live video diagnosis of a patient.
Since 2015, HOSA Canada has helped secondary and post-secondary students to become future leaders in healthcare by helping students acquire knowledge, skills training and leadership development through competition. The Spring Leadership Competition is the largest health science student competition in Canada, with over 6,000 students competing every year.
This is the second year that Notre Dame students have participated at the HOSA competition and leadership conference. It was an exciting and educational two days filled with professional networking and skill building. Our chapter looks forward to growing and attending future Spring Leadership Conferences in the years to come.
