Just a reminder that if you borrowed a book prior to March Break, it is probably overdue.  Please bring it to the Learning Commons to either return or renew it in order to avoid overdue fines.

The 1st preparation session for Grade 12 students writing the DELF Exam has been changed and will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 instead of Thursday, March 21, 2019

Attention all Baseball Players !  Any students interested in trying out for the Notre Dame Varsity Baseball Team are asked to sign up and pick up an information package from Room 1224.  The 1st tryout will be next Monday, March 25, 2019 in the gym after school.

Reminder:  The Film Club meets Monday, March 18, 2019 after school in Room 1222.  We will be finishing "The Faculty".  See you there.

This week Student Council is hosting a trivia week.  Every day this week there will be a game of Kahoot in the Library.  Come out and play.  Top 3 winners will receive prizes.

Do you have a Green Thumb?  If so, you should consider joining the Notre Dame Greenhouse Republic.There will be an information meeting in Room 1311 on Thursday, March 21, 2019 after school.  If you can't make the meeting, please see Mr. Winters anytime in room 1311 for information and a permission form.

Reminder for all Grade 12 students that graduation sweaters are available on the Gradwear website.  Remeber to check the link in the student coucil instagram bio and place your orders.

Reminder to all student writing the OSSLT.  Please hand in your permission forms to the Attendance office by Tuesday, March 26 in order to leave the school premises after the OSSLT.  Any student who fails to hand in this permission form, will have to remain at school under supervision until 2:05 p.m.

Are you in Grade 9, 10 or 11 this year?  Are you a leader?  Are you looking for 40+ community service hours?  Students new to Canada would appreciate your guidance.  Please come to the Guidance Office for an applicatipn to become a part of the "N.O.W." Program.

Attention all music students:  The jazz choir will meet on second lunch and there will be a steel pan practice after school on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.  There will be a concert band practice on Thursday, March 21, 2019 after school.  In addition, coffee house audition sign ups are posted outside the music room door.  Please sign up ASAP.  Also, please bring in any outstanding music banquet and Kiwanis Festival forms.

To all students interested in applying to co-operative education for 2019-2020 school year.  Last day for completed applications is on Friday, March 22nd.  Please come to Guidance to pick up applications and more information.

Reminder to all Grade 12's.  Your $75 graduation fees are now due.  This fee will cover cap, gown, tassel, breakfast and reception.  The gowns are being ordered next week.  Please go onto School Cash Online and pay ASAP.  As an incentive, there will be a draw from all paid students and one person will be reimbursed their $75.00.

Any students wishing to go to TedX, there is still room on the bus.  The forms must be returned to the Main Office by Friday, March 22, 2019.

Reminder to all Senior Boys and Girls Volleyball teams, there is a practice on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 2:15 in Gym C.

Thursday, March 7, 2019 is International Women's Day.  Show your support for International Women's Day and gender parity on Thursday by wearing a purple shirt with your uniform.  Please remember those who wish to participate in the Women's March on Thursday, must have their permission forms returned to Guidance by Wednesday, March 6.

Congratulations to the Notre Dame Steel Pan Ensemble who performed at Sir John A. McDonald High School in Toronto yesterday for the Black History Celebrations.   Thank you all for an outstanding performance.

Interested in getting an amazing work experience while earming credits?  Pick up a co-op and SHSM Application Form in the Guidance Office.  Once completed, please return to the Guidance Office and you will be contacted by a co-op teacher to discuss the opportunity.

February's Social Justice Film night is this Friday.  We will be watching Black Panther !  Everyone is welcome to the Learning Commons this Friday at 2:15.  Come for the movie and stay afterwards for Pizza and round table discussions.

DELF Exam, all grade 12 French students interested in writing see Mr. Martel for a registration form.

Students interested in playing Badminton, the first practice will be Wednesday, February 20 for Grade 9 and 10 students. Thursday, February 21 for grade 11 and 12.  Please meet in the gym after school.

Co-op, if you are interested Co-Op, forms are available from Guidance for the 2019-2020 school year.  Co-Op forms are to be completed and handed in with your course selection.

Week of February 11 - February 15, 2019

Attention Skiers and Snowboards.  There are only a few spots left for our February 19 trip to Blue Mountain.  If interest, please see Mr. Martel today to get the forms.

Track and Field tryouts will be held Friday, February 15, 2019.  We will be travelling to the indoor track and field facility at York University.  The tryout form is a pink handout which is located outside the P.E. offices.  Payment for the bus is online.  Bus space is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. Drop your form off with Mr. Kolodzie or leave it with a secreary at the main office.  A confirrmation list will be posted after school.

The Notre Dame Battle of the Books team will be meeting next week for the first time.  If you are interested, see Mr. Gardin in the learning commons for more information.

From February 11 to February 13, 2019, Student Council will be selling Candy Grams in the cafeteria on both lunches.  Buy one for .50 cents or three for a $1.  Candy Grams will be given out first period on Valentine's Day.

The Notre Dame Math Department is looking for students to particulate in its after after-school Peer Tutoring Program.  If you're interest in earning Community Service hours and are a good math student in grade 11 or 12 and willing to help other students in math, please talk to your current math teacher, or Mrs. Gill in Room 1320.

Attention Grade 10 Academic English Students !  Join us June 5, 2019 to watch Othello in Stratford.  Tickets are $45 and can be bought in Room 1210 from Mrs. Coburn.

All Grade 11 Academic Students, if you are interested in taking AP English next year as your ENG4U credit, and you have questions about the course, Mr. Crosby will be holding an information session after school on Wednesday in the library.

Week of February 4 - February 8, 2019

Come and join in learning the art of Polynesian dance every Wednesday after school this semester.  You will be exploring Hawaiian, Tahitian & Maori dance and may also have the opportumity to perform at the local Tedx in May.  First meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 6 in the dance room (room 1146).  For more information please see Ms. Jover.

Jr. Girls Volleyball team will be travelling to Pine Ridge today to play against Sinclair.  Girls are to meet at 1:15 with teachers permission.  Good luck ladies.

If you are interest in being a Learning Commons volunteer, please see Mr. Gardin this week to sign up.

Students who are interested in competing in the Canadian Computing Competition run by the University of Waterloo are asked to drop by Room 1151 for a short information session after school on either Tuesday, Febaury 5 or Wednesday, February 6.The Registration Fee for the contest is $8.00 and must be submitted by Friday, February 8.

All staff and students are invited to join in prayer for the morning rosary in the Chapel every Wednesday moring at 7:45 a.m.

A big congratulations to the Jr. Girls Volleyball team for their outstanding efforts at the Pereyma Tournament.  After beating G.L. Roberts in the quarter-finals, they played an amazing game but lost in the semi-finals against tournament champions, Sinclair.  Good Job Girls.  The team will be travelling to Brooklin on Tuesday, February 5 to play their final league games.  Dismissal is 12:45 p.m.

Attention Art and Culture SHSM students.  If you want to attend the trip to Mississauga Living Arts Centre on Februry 20, you need to get your permission letters to Mr. Kieszkowski in Portable 4 by Thursday, February 7.  Spaces are limited.

Breakfast Club will resume this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning from 7:20 - 7:50 in room 1153.  All students are welcome to join.

Congratulations to all students on completing Semester 1.  Semester 2 will begin on Thursday, January 31. 

Are you in need of community service hours ?  This year's Black History Month Celebration set to take place on Saturday, February 2 in our theatre is in need of help.  If you are interest in helping out, drop by Guidance on your lunch or after school.

Due to bus cancellations, the boys basketball game at Pine Ridge wll be rescheduled. 

Attention all Sports SHSM Students there is an experiential learning trip on February 20 going to Lakeridge Health Oshawa where you will taking a tour and get hands on experience in their medical simulation labs.  Spots are limited and will be on a first come first serve basis.

A reminder to all Film Club members that meetings will now take place on Monday's after school.  The first meeting will take place on Monday, February 4.

Reminder to Students.  All university applications are due Wednesday, January 16.  All college applications are due Friday, February 1.

Social Justice and Equity Class will be holding a raffle of a Lindt Chocolate Basket valued at $100.00 to raise awareness for poverty.  All money will be donated to Me to We Charity.  Tickets will be for sale in the cafeteria on Tuesday and Wednesday, both lunches. 

Black History Month Celebration set to take place on February 2nd is looking for students who are in need of community service hours and would like to help out.  Please stop by Guidance during lunch or before or after school for more information and to sign up.

Grade 10 Acedemic Students are invited to go to Stratford to watch Othello on June 5th.  Tickets are $45 and can be bought from the Mrs. Coburn (English Department).

This is also a reminder that the leadership committee will be resuming meetings after school on Tuesdays at 2:30.  Thursday, giant pong and Friday Air Hockey Tournament.

Breakfast Club reminder, it is open every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning from 7:30 to 7:50 a.m. in Room 1153.  All students are welcome.

All stage crew and cast for the school play, there is a meeting Friday, January 11 at 2:15 p.m. in the drama room.

The school play is this spring, if you are interested signup sheet will be posted across from the drama room for crew positions. Further information to follow.

Audition sign-ups are posted in the drama hall for a one act play called "Meadowvale".  For more information see Mrs. Jover.

S4SAS is hosting the ST. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs on Friday January 11.  Drop by during you lunch and pet a dog, visits are limited and are availalbe on a first come first serve basis.

Donations of gently used or new clothing, such as shirts, pants, coats, hats and gloves, will be accepted January 14th to January 18th. 

Do you want to learn more about a career in denistry? Or do you plan on pursuing medicine. On Thursday, January 10 the ND science club will welcome two special guest speakers in the field of denistry in room 1312 after school.

All university applications are due January 16.  All college applications are due on Friday, February 1.

Peer Ministers plan on attending after school on Thursday from 2:15 to 3 :30 p.m. in the chapel.

Week of December 17 - December 21, 2018

Yesterday, December 20 the Notre Dame Choir shared Christmas joy with the seniors at Windbourne Park and Manresa. 

Thank you for everyone who participated in the buyout for basketball.  Both the Junior and Senior basketball teams won.

The Junior Girls volleyball team had a good day on Thursday, December 20 at LOSSA defeating St. Stephens two straight and losing to J. Clarke, they came back with one win in a stellar effort over a top ranked team in Pickering.

Semester 2 night school forms are available in Guidance.

Grade 12 students are able to book their graduation pictures online through Edge Imaging.  Photos are done by appointment only.

Grade 12 graduates - January 23 is the deadline for Schulich Scholarship.  See Guidance for submission details.

Applications are due to College and Universities.

Wednesday, December 12 is non-uniform day.  We will be collecting 2 dollar minimum for our Christmas families.

Junior Reach for the Top practice is on Wednesday, December 12 after school in Guidance.

Our annual Christmas concert is at 7 p.m. on December 13 in the auditorium.

Ms. Gelinas' Leadership class is hosting a fundraiser called Hustle for Heart.  The cost is 2 dollars and will be held on Friday, December 14.

Senior girls volleyball practice is today, December 6 at 2:15.

Grade 12 Equity and Social Justice Class will be selling rafikis for 10 dollars on Thursday, December 6 and Friday, December 7 in the cafeteria.  The rafikis are handmade in Kenya and half of the proceeds go back to them in Kenya and the other half helps empower women to change their future. 

High Five training is tomorrow, Wednesday December 5.  Please report to the Learning Commons.

Wednesday, December 5 is non-uniform day.  A minimum donation of $2 will support our Christmas Outreach Program. Notre Dame sponsors over 30 families at Christmas every year. 

Visual Arts Design class will be displaying their ceramic plates in the main foyer on Tuesday, December 4. 

Congratulations to the Junior Boys basketball team on winning the Durham College tournament this weekend.  A special congratulations to Malachi TH for being named tournament MVP.

All Non-Profit SHSM students are asked to check Edsby for an invitation to the group and as a reminder to come to room 1204 to collect a note for mandatory certification happening this Thursday, November 21.

Music students who have signed up for coffee house there are auditions today during second lunch and after school in the music room.

Band rehersal is Friday, November 9 at 2:10.

Junior A and B boys basketball team are to pick up permission forms outside of Phys Ed office for the upcoming tournament.

There will be a bake sale on November 8 over both lunches to support Therapeutic Horseback Riding.

The Unity after school program starts today. Develop your hip-hop skills and collect some community hours while showcasing your talents.  The program runs every Monday for one hour.

Congratulations to Notre Dame's Tennis Team who represented our school well.  Speciall mention goes to Katerine F who came in fourth at LOSSA and to Tyler L who won silver. Tyler will be representing Notre Dame at OFSAA in May.

Sports SHSM students please pick up permission forms for the trip to the Abilities Center from the Phys Ed Office as soon as possible. Trip is scheduled for November 14.

Grade 12 students who are university bound can pick up their OUAC PINS in Guidance. 

Wednesday is non-uniform day.  You may wear a costume or non-uniform clothes, the cost is 2 dollars.  All money raised will be donated to feed the families in Durham Region. 

Boys in grade 10 wishing to play basketball are asked to sign up outsdie the girls Phys Ed office on Tuesday.  Be prepared for a tryout on Wednesday.

All music students who are interested in a trip to New York City should attend a parent information meeting on October 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the music room.

If you missed the Culture Talent show auditions they will be holding another audition October 29th in the Theatre at 2:15.  Rehersals will be October 30 and October 31 at 2:15 in the Theatre.

There will be a meeting in portable 1 on Tueday after school for anyone interested in joining Anime Club.

On Wednesday, November 7 Notre Dame's Leadership class will be hosting a culture talent show.  The show will be a class buyout with the cost of 1 dollar.  Also during the week they will be offering free samples of cultural food.  On November 7 all students will be permitted to wear a different coloured short with uniform bottoms to represent their culture.

All music students who are interested in a trip to New York City should attend a parent information meeting on October 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the music room.

Student Life Expo is October 27 and October 28 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Metro Convention Centre in Toronto.  Register for your chance to win $2000 towards your tuition in Guidance.

On Wednesday, November 7 Notre Dame's Leadership class will be hosting a culture talent show.  All grades are welcome to audtiion. First audition will be Thursday, October 25 in the dance room at 2:15.

Students who love trivia, please come and join our Reach for the Top Team.  Practice will be on Thursday, October 25 after school in Guidance.

Senior boys volleyball tournament is tomorrow, October 26  in Gym A and B.  Pizza will be sold for $2 per slice and $5 for two slices, with a water and a treat.

Congratulations to the Cross Country Running Team at LOSSA yesterday.  Our top finishers were Joshua P, Alayna S and Aidan B.  Aaliyah A. and Ashton J with bronze.  Midget boys won team won overall bronze, junior boys bronze and senior boys silver.  Josh, Aidan and Ashton have all qualified for OFSAA in Burlington next weekend.  Also, senior boys also qualified.  Well done. 

Congratulations to our Senior Boys Soccer Team on their victory in the LOSSA semi finals.  The boys will take on Pickering this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Oshawa Civic Stadium Field. 

Youth and Policing presentation will be at the Learning Commons on Wednesday, October 24.  Only the students who have signed up are allowed to participate.

Congratulations to the Junior Boys volleyball team for an amazing effort at Friday's tournament at Notre Dame.  Team A made it to the semi finals and congratulations to MVP of Team A, Andrew B. and also to MVP of Team B Anthony A.  Next game is Wednesday, October 24.

Week of October 15-19, 2018

Notre Dame is participating in the thirtith anniversary of the Food For Clothing Exchange in Durham Region.  Donations of good and clean used clothing can be brought to Guidance. Please bring all donations by October 31.  The Food For Clothing Exchange takes place at Bobby Orr Public School.

Student Council will be sending out sign up sheets for any grade 11 and 12 students who are interested in acting in the Haunted House on October 31.  Sign up sheets will be going around on Tuesday, October 23. 

Audtions for Culture Week  are on October 29 and October 31.  All grades are welcome to audition and we are looking for any kind that represent your culture. 

Thanksgiving Food Drive winners for the homerooms who collected the most amount of non-perishable food items are Mr. Kowalewski's class and Mr. Winter's class.  The winner of the hot pancake breakfast is Ms. Leach's class. 

Join the VE Day Liberation of the Netherlands Trip in 2020.  Parent night information is Tuesday October 23 at 7 p.m. in the Learning Commons.  You will visit, Amsterdam, Prague, and Auschwitz, Poland.

Unity Charity is Back! Sign up in the Guidance Classroom as soon as possible as space is limited.  The workshops will take place November 2,  during period 3 or 4.  The Afterschool Unity program starts up November 5 after school and will run until February.

Congratulations to the Senior Girls Basketball team who remain undefeated in LOSSA competition after a win Tuesday over Brooklin High School.

Reach for the Top: Practise will be on Thursday, October 18 after school. Seniors meet in Learning Commons and Juniros meet in the Guidance Classroom.

Thanksgiving Food Drive: Friday, October 12 is the last day to collect non-perishable food for Settlement House.

Terry Fox Run: This year's Terry Fox Run was very successful.  We raised over $4,500.00. A special thank you to the Students and Teachers who helped out with the planning and running of the event.  Students who raised $20.00 or more were entered into a raffle and eleven students won.a prize.  Winners are to see Mr. Wonnacott.

Camp Awakened, October 26-28, the CFC Youth Durham Chapter is hosting a weekend camp.  Forms are available on the Chaplain office door.

All SHSM students on October 23, there will be a trip to U of T campus in Toronto.  We will be taking  the first 40 students to return their permission forms to Mrs Manuel. Trip package is outside room 1209.

Tech Team: Any student interested in joining the tech crew, please see Mr. Opiola in the Media Arts room or Ms. Jover in the Drama Room.  You will be trained on how to work the soundboards and lighting for the theater will be provided.

Part Two of Peer Ministry will take place after school on Wednesday, September 19 in the Chapel.

Volleyball Junior Boys, the final team list has been posted on the bulletin board in the gym.  First practice is 2:15-4 on Thursday September 20.

Sports SHSM: All grade 12 Sports SHSM sddtudent, please pick up your permission package for the Claremont trip from Ms. Tonna in the phys. ed. office.  This is a mandatory SHSM trip.
