All DCDSB Schools and Offices Closed Thursday, February 13, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The health and safety of Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) students and staff is our highest priority. As you are likely aware, a major winter storm went through Durham Region overnight, and has caused dangerous driving conditions, bus cancellations and freezing rain on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
Considering this information and the safety of students and staff, DCDSB has made the decision to close all schools and offices on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Before and after school childcare programs will be cancelled. Full day childcare programs that operate within our schools will also be closed and will communicate with families independently.
It is never an easy decision to close our schools, and we know the weather can be unpredictable and may impact each town or city differently. We have been closely monitoring the conditions in hopes they would be clear this morning. The snowfall experienced overnight has made it unsafe for many students and staff to attend school today.
Our elementary schools will re-open on Friday, February 14, 2025. Please note that February 14 is a Professional Development Day for secondary schools – secondary students will resume classes on Tuesday, February 18 following the PD Day and Family Day weekend.
We pray for everyone who may be impacted by the storm and thank our DCDSB students and families for your continued partnership in support of our students.
Yours in hope and faith,
Gerard Winn
Director of Education
