E-Learning Courses:  Courses begin Monday February 12th, All Students must complete orientation course prior to starting.  Please see Guidance for instruction sheet for online courses and more more details.

Track & Field:  Tryouts on Wednesday February 21st.  Information and Permission forms are located outside the Phys.Ed office.

Annual Music Banquet:  Date: May 18th at Deer Creek Banquet Hall includes live performances, dinner and dancing.  Save the date!

Business SHSM Students:  On February 20 there is customer service training in Learning Commons, Period 1&2; all grade 11 Business SHSM students.  Period 3&4 Grade 11&12 Business SHSM students to attend certification on Networking in Learning Commons.  See Mrs. Manuel for more details.

Grade 12 Students:  Two remaining school nominated scholarships available.  Please see your guidance counsellor for more details.

Music Banquet:  Tickets will be sold at the begining of Semester 2 in February.

EQAO: Testing taking place on January 17&18 in the Learning Commons.

Indigenous Education & Advisory Circle:  Inviting parents and students (14+) to attend private viewing of the movie, Indan Horse.  Held on Saturday January 20th at 10:00 a.m.  Landmark Cinemas in Whitby.  Pre-registration is required for this event.  Please see Guidance for more details.

Durham Black History Month Celebration:  Earn community service hours; held in cafeteria on Saturday February 3 from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM.  Sign up in Guidance.

Week of January 8 to January 12, 2018

Fitness/Weight training:  Male and Female students are welcomed, no experience necessary.  Pick up forms in Guidance.  Form and fees are due before participation.

All SHSM Students: Ottawa Trip - $50 deposit is due February 1st; to purchase extra insurance, please contact Mrs. Manuel for forms.

St. John's Ambulance Therapy Dog on January 18:  All students welcomed.  Sign up at S4SAS table in cafeteria on January 12,15 or 16.  Permission form available in Guidance and in Cafeteria during sign up.  Visits limited and on a first come first serve basis.

Durham Black History Month Celebration:  Earn community service hours; held in cafeteria on Saturday February 3 from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM.  Sign up in Guidance.

Girl Talk:  Event will be held on January 11th in the dance room during period 4.  Bring in your signed permission form.

Social Justice Committee - Milk Mats Imitative:  All bags that hold 3, one litre bags; please drop off at Chapel.  Please contact Mr. Doyle or Mrs. Vanheukelom.

Grade 12 Grad Fees: Collection of fees and gown measurements happening Monday through Friday starting next week in Guidance.  $75.00 payment should be paid through SchoolCashOnline.

Grade 12 students:  If you are planning on attending college or university next year, please consider the following deadlines:  University applications are due January 17th and College applications are due February 1st.  OSAP applications can be completed at the same time for students requiring financial assistance.

Boys Hockey:  The team plays Father Leo J. Austin on Thursday.  Players are to check the roster outside room 1103 for game details. 

Science Peer Tutoring:  Tuesday after school in room 1301.

Senior Girls Volleyball:  Practice on Tuesday after school.  See Mrs. Tonna if you cannot attend.

ND QSA:  An invitation to all students to join the QSA on Wednesday December 20th after school in the Food and Nutrition room to make Gender-Bread (Gingerbread)!

Christmas Outreach:  Tuesday is the last day to bring in any gifts or money to support our Christmas Outreach Families.

Annual Christmas Concert:  Thursday December 14, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.. Tickets are $5.00 and can be bought at the door.

ND Science Club:  Meeting after school on Thursday in room 1312.  Guest Speaker!!!!

Christmas Outreach:  Purchase tickets on lunches in the cafeteria until December 18th to win a New Nintendo Switch.  1 ticket for a loonie; 3 tickets for a toonie and 10 tickets for a fiver.

Grade 11 Mock Trial:  Yesterday, in the case of Cinderella, the Jury found the accused guilty on all changes and sentenced to 5 years.  In the case of Hansel and Gretel, the Jury found the father and the wizard innocent on all charges.

Annual Christmas Bingo for Outreach:  Bingo cards are 1 for $0.50 or 3 cards to $1.00.  Prized for our winners.  Sales end this Friday.  Bingo will be played on Monday December 18th in the morning. 

Candy Grams:  Monday is the last day to purchase candy grams on both lunches in the caf. $.025 each or 5 for $1.00.

Girl Talk:  Event will be held on December 13th in the dance room during period 4.  Bring in your signed permission form.

Boys Hockey Team:  Meeting today in room 1103 immediately after school on Monday to discuss the upcoming tournament this week at the Legends Center in Oshawa.

Senior Girls Volleyball:  Practice on Monday at 2:15 p.m. sharp.

Grade 11 Business & Non-Profit SHSM:  Second City forms are due on Tuesday to Mrs. Manual in room 1209.

3D Printing:  Come to the Learning Commons after school today to find out how to design in three dimensions.

Senior Girls Volleyball:  Practice after school today in Gym C.  Please sign up for Remind notifications ASAP.

Day of Service Participants:  Meet in the Chapel on Tuesday at 8:10 for morning attendance.  Dress warmly and pack a bagged lunch.

Night School and Co-Op Forms:  Semester 2 course forms are available in Guidance.

Non-Uniform day:  Thursday, December 7th.  Bring your toonies.  All proceeds to our Christmas Outreach program.

Business SHSM Students:  Grade 11 and 12 students interested in going on the May 16-17 Ottawa trip are to pick up an information package from room 1209.  The Parent meeting night to discuss the trip is on Wednesday, December 13 in the evening.

3D Design:  There will be a tutorial after school on Tuesday December 5th in the learning commons to learn about designing in three dimensions.  Come out if you are interested. 

Science Club:  The ND Science Club will meet on Thursday, December 7th after school.

Spirit Days Events:  Sign up at lunch on Wednesday and Friday in the cafeteria to compete in fun activities on December 12 & 13.

Battle of the Books:  If you are interested in trying out for the championship Battle of the Books Team, see Mr. Gardin in the learning commons.

Junior Girls Volleyball:  Practice Wednesday, November 30th, 2017 at 6:00 p.m..  Bus leaves at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday for the tournament at Maxwell Heights.

Day of Service:  20 spots left.  Bring in your signed permission form to Ms. Mustachi.  Mandatory meeting on Wednesday, November 29th in the guidance classroom from 2:10 to 3:10.

"Spin For Heart":  November 30th during 4th period.  Sign up the week on both lunches with a $2.00 cost per person.  5 people to a team permitted.  Each team will cycle for the entire period and will be receiving free popcorn and a drink.  Prizes to be won.

Non-Profit and Business SHSM Trip:  please pick up forms from room 1204 and return them by Wednesday, November 29, 2017.

Sports SHSM:  December 5th High Five Traiing.  Mandatory Certification for all sports SHSM students.  30 spots available on a first come, first served basis.  See Ms. Tonna in the Phys. Ed. Office for a permission form.

Robotics Team:  ND participated in the UOIT Sumobot Competition on Saturday, November 25.  ND placed high in each match and knocked off many other robots.  The team ranked 3rd out of 60 robots.  Congratulations to I. and S. on a very successful fall robotics season.

Pink Shirt Day:  Wear your ND Pink Shirt with your uniform bottoms on Tuesday, November 14th to show your support against cyber bullying.  Shirts are available for purchase in the Learning Commons or Guidance office for just $5.00.

Cross Country Running Team:  Congratulations to the runners who completed their season on Saturday.  HM was our fastest junior girl.  LN was the fastest midget boy and AB was our fastest senior boy.  The senior boys team of AB, AH, MB, EV and SC placed a solid 8th out of the best 40 teams in the province.  Coaches are proud of you all for a season well done.

Picture Retake Day:  Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the Guidance Classroom.  Bring your picture packages with you if you are having your picture retaken.  Students who did not have their picture taken in September, please ensure you come to Guidance for a picture for the yearbook and for your student ID.

Junior Boys Basketball Tryouts:  3:45 p.m. Monday October 16 in the gym.  Grade 9 boys only.

Senior Boys Volleyball:  Practice in gym C after school Monday, October 16.  Game on Wednesday.

Grade 12 Nonprofit and Business SHSM students:  Trip to George Brown on Friday October 27th is CANCELLED due to the College Staff Strike.

Senior Boys Soccer Team:  LOSSA Quart Finals game today against Sinclair H.S. Game will be held at Sinclair H.S. at 3:00 pm. Students are dismissed at 2:00 pm to get changed and board the bus.  Bus leaves at 2:15 sharp.

Senior Boys Basketball Players:  3:45 p.m. practice Tuesday October 17.

French Club:  Meeting on Thursday in room 1150.  French cuisine and French film!

Soccer:  Junior and Senior Boys Soccer Team members play Donald A. Wilson today at home.  Junior team members are to be dismissed at 1:10 and be on the field at 1:30.  Senior team members are asked to meet by 3:00 on the field.

Junior Reach for the Top:  Grade 9 and 10 students welcome.  Thursday, October 12th at 2:10 p.m. in the guidance classroom.

Cross Country Team:  Congratulations to everyone who competed at Alex Robertson Park on Wednesday. 

Senior Boys Basketball:  Practice at 3:45 Thursday, October 12.  Check the team list outside the phys. ed. offices.

Student Suggestion Box:  Voice your concerns anonymously until October 19th.  The suggestion box is in the main office until October 19th.  Our Student Trustees and Senators will take your concerns to the Council and Board of Trustees to make a stronger school community.

Grade 12 Nonprofit and Business SHSM students:  Trip to George Brown on Friday October 27th.  30 spots available.  First come first serve.  See Mrs. Manuel in room 1209 for your permission form.

Stressed Out to Chilled Out:  October 10th, meeting is at 10:50 (first lunch) in the guidance classroom.

Basketball:  Open gym for basketball at 3:40 on Wednesday for all Grade 9 and Grade 10 boys.

Winter Uniform:  Second layer worn over your first layer starts tomorrow, Wednesday October 11, 2017.  Notre Dame Uniform Sweater or Vest must be worm over the White Notre Dame Shirt.  This rule will be enforced.

S4SAS:  Wednesday October 11th, wear a sea of colours to show support of our LGBTQ+ community.  Grade 9's wear red and orange; grade 10s wear yellow and green; grade 11s wear blue and grade 12s wear purple.  Bake sale will occur during both lunches in the cafeteria.  Bring your loonies and toonies.

Grade 12's with period one spare:  Your grade 12 mandatory retreat is on November 7th.  Please pick up a form from the yellow folder on the Chaplain's door.

Week of October 2, 2017 to October 6, 2017

 Junior and Senior Boys Soccer:  Games October 5, 2017 against St. Mary CHS.  Junior members will be dismissed at 1:10 p.m. and should be on the ND field by 1:30 p.m. for the 2:00 kick off.  The Senior game will follow at 3:30 p.m..

Free Programs offered by Town of Ajax:  Come to the cafeteria after school to register for free art, cooking or sports programs. 

Dancers Needed:  Town of Ajax is seeking student dancers for a youth talent showcase.  Dancers will work with a trained choreographer to create a piece to be performed in a community theatre.  See Ashley in the cafeteria after school on Thursday October 5.

Year Book Distribution:  All Grade current 10, 11 and 12 students will receive their 2017-2017 ND Yearbook at the end of period four on Thursday, October 5.  If you have a spare period four, you will need to see Mr. Gardin in the learning commons.

Cafe - Cine Francais:  There will be a meeting this afternoon in room 1222 after school.  See you there.

Open Gym:  Grade 9 and 10 boys wishing to play basketball, come to the gym after school Wednesday October 4, 2017.

Honour Roll Certificates:  Students who were unable to attend the Honour Roll Evening Celebration, please pick up your certificate in Guidance on Tuesday October 10 on your lunch.

Senior Reach for the Top Team:  Practice on Monday October 2, 2017 in the learning commons after school.

Junior Reach for the Top Team: All Grade 9 and 10 students interested  in Trivia, come join the Reach for the Top team.  First practice on Wednesday October 4th after school in the guidance classroom.

Cross Country Running Athletes:  Check the cross country practice list outside of the Phys. Ed. Offices.  If there is a glitch, please see coach Kolodzie at lunch on October 2, 2017 in the gym.

Cafeteria:  The cafeteria will serve Daily Lunch Specials and Breakfast sandwiches.

Science Peer Tutoring:  Need help with your science homework?  Come to Science Peer Tutoring every Tuesday after school.

Special Basketball Event:  Tuesday October 3, 2017 at 2:15.  All Grade 9 and 10 boys basketball players are welcome to come to Open Gym Basketball.

Unity After-School Program:  See Guidance to pick up forms to register for an opportunity to participate in an after school program starting the week of October 10th.  Learn about hip hop art forms and earn community service hours.  All you have to do is commit about an hours after school every Wednesday to learn from the Unity Artists. 

Durham College Trucking Job Fair:  Free Job Fair at the Whitby Campus for those interested in a potential career in the trucking industry.  Saturday October 21, 2017 from 10 a.m. to noon.  See Guidance for more information.

Grade 12 SHSM Students:  Wednesday, October 11, 2017 there will be a trip to Ryerson University.  There is a limit of 45 students.  Forms to attend are available for pick up outside of room 1109.  The first 45 grade 12 SHSM students to return their signed forms to Mr. Grossi will be able to attend.  Reserve your seat on the bus!  See your SHSM teacher if you have questions.

Business SHSM Students:  Club photo will be taken on Friday October 6, 2017 at the start of period 2.  See you in the learning commons.  Please wear your Business SHSM shirt with your uniform bottoms.

Boys Soccer Teams:  Junior practice cancelled Wednesday, September 27th due to heat alert.  Senior Boys to see Mr. Hodkinson on their lunch on Wednesday, September 27th for a brief meeting.  Both teams earned ties against Dunbarton at Tuesday's game.

Social Justice Club:  Meeting Wednesday, September 27th in room 1206 after school.  Newcomers are welcome.

Thanksgiving & Hurricane Relief Outreach:  Let's help rebuild communities.  Bring in your non-perishable food items to your homeroom teachers until October 5th.  Items will be donated to The Settlement House in Oshawa to support homeless youth and families in Durham regions and donations to Antigua and Barbuda will be sent according to homeroom donation boxes.

Notre Dame Tech Crew:  Join the Tech Crew.  If you have some experience, please see Mr. Opiola in room 1151 (Media Arts).

Grade 9's:  Stressed Out to Chilled Out:  Feeling overwhelmed?  Any grade 9 students interested in attending the "Stressed Out to Chilled Out" 6 week program at Notre Dame during lunch hour, please see guidance for a permission form.  Forms are due to guidance as soon as possible. The program start date has been changed to October 10, 2017.

Honour Roll Celebration October 4, 2017:  Please see the lists in the honour roll case.  In order for your seat to be reserved on the evening of the celebration, please return your invitation to Program Support, room 1112.

Boys Soccer:  Practice cancelled on Monday Sept 25th for the senior boys soccer team members.  Next game will be Tuesday, September 26, 2017.  Juniors kick off at 2:00 and Senior at 3:30 on our home field.


Week of September 18 to September 22, 2017

Junior Boys Volleyball:  Tryouts continue on Wednesday, September 19th in Gym C.  Final team will be picked on Thursday.

Volunteer Opportunities:  All Saints Catholic Secondary School is looking for volunteers for Saturday mornings to help teachers in  language classes.  Please see Mr. Zheng in room 1306 for more information.

Business SHSM students:  Meet in room 1209 on Friday September 22nd at 12:10 p.m..  Please respond to the invitation sent via remind.  Lunch will be provided.

Boys Soccer:  Junior and Senior Boys should return their form and the $30.00 fee to Mr. Hodkinson in guidance.  First league game is on Thursday, September 21, 2017.

Peer Academic Leadership Program (PAL):  ND's PAL program matches grade 12 students with younger students who require academic assistance.  PAL students earn community service hours and a letter of recognition.  Come to Guidance or see Mr. Hodkinson for more information.

Volunteer Opportunity:  Notre Dame is looking for ND students interested in being math peer tutors.  Earn community service hours. See Mrs. Gill in room 1320.

Social Justice Club:  Meeting in room 1206 on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.  Newcomers are welcome!

Students for Safe and Accepting School (S4SAS):  Meeting on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 2:10 p.m.. in room 1102.  New members welcome.

The Cafeteria/Servery:  The servery is open in the morning before school starts.  Debit is working for milk, juice and coffee.

University Fair:  The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is hosting a University Fair this weekend.  From Friday to Sunday, all Ontario Universities and many across Canada will be there.

Parking Passes:  Student who are driving to school must see Ms. Costello in the main office for a parking pass.  Complete the paperwork and bring your $5.00 annual payment to the office.

Senior Reach for the Top Team:  Monday, September 25th is the first practice.  Meet in the learning commons after school.  No experience is necessary.

Cross Country Team:  Congratulations to the cross country running team who competed in Port Hope yesterday.  Top finishers were AS, LN, AB, HM, MA, EB and AJ. Grade 9 students wishing to join the team are still welcome.  Meet on the track.  Next race is Wednesday, September 27th at Dagmar.
